Lonnie Perry 2 months agoLongfellow Park was a wonderful surprise as we walked through the area, a quiet and beautifully kept space that feels like a small oasis tucked into the city. The park is named in honor of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, one of America’s most celebrated poets, whose work shaped 19th‑century literature and left a lasting cultural legacy. It’s fitting that a peaceful, reflective space carries his name, and the park captures that spirit perfectly. At the center stands the impressive statue of Longfellow, and it truly is well done. The sculpture was created by William Couper, an accomplished American artist known for his elegant and expressive public works. His depiction of Longfellow has a calm, thoughtful presence, and the craftsmanship gives the statue a sense of dignity that anchors the entire park. It’s the kind of artwork that invites you to pause for a moment and appreciate both the artistry and the history behind it. The park itself is small but charming, with greenery, benches, and a sense of calm that contrasts nicely with the busy streets around it. It’s the sort of place you stumble upon and immediately appreciate — a quiet corner where you can rest, take in the surroundings, and enjoy a bit of beauty in the middle of the city. Our visit was brief, but it left a strong impression. Longfellow Park is a lovely tribute to an important American poet, and the statue by William Couper gives the space a memorable focal point. It’s absolutely worth a stop if you’re walking through the neighborhood.
Björn Ólafsson 7 months agoNice small park with chairs and tables. If you want to enjoy your Nandos PiriPiri or Shake Shack meals outside this is a great option. Also some statue there.
Darin James a year agoIt was a pretty chilly day, so I didn't hang out in the park too long. I did appreciate that if I was grabbing lunch on a nicer day in the Farragut North/Dupont South area, this would be a nice space to have a downtown picnic. As so many of DC parks honor military figures, it's nice to see a poet get honored.
Victoria secreat 9 months agoLongfellow Park is a peaceful green space with playgrounds and open lawns—ideal for families, picnics, and relaxing strolls in the heart of D.C.
Zachary Kelsay 6 months agoA nice pocket of green space along Connecticut Avenue with outdoor seating that’s perfect for enjoying takeout when the weather is nice. It’s a great spot for people-watching in an urban setting.
