A calm, easy park to spend an hour or two without much planning. I went for a walk and ended up doing a few loops near the river, with the ponds and old trees making it feel a little more tucked away than I expected. There was a baseball game going on, but the park still did not feel crowded. The playground area seemed good for kids, and I noticed it was fenced, which makes things simpler for parents. There are restrooms or portable toilets around, and plenty of open grass if you just want to wander or sit for a bit. Parking was the only part that made me pause, since some of the street signs were faded and not clear. It could use some upkeep in spots, but nothing that really got in the way of enjoying it. I can see why people use it for walks, kids’ activities, sledding in winter, or just a quiet stop by the water... It is a practical neighborhood park with more to it than you might notice at first.

THERE IS A PARKING LOT BY THE TENNIS COURT if your friends want to meet here for a game of tennis or a walk around the park or a fishing championship between you and your one friend whos kids like to fish for whatever reason whatever the reason youre sure to have a pleasing time here. Dont let maps lie to you though, that roundabout on the map is a 16-20 car lot.

What a great Park something for everybody and once you find the river it feels like you're really in the woods took my dog for a walk Memorial Day and it wasn't even crowded

Beautiful park. I have been going there since I was a child. It could use a little upkeep, but still beautiful.

Chicago has many parks that are vastly underrated. Gompers Park happens to be one of them. It offer great deal of variety from tennis court, baseball field, fishing pond, swimming pool, to field house with gym. It is surprisingly large and offers many good programs. It is also conveniently located with easy access to two bus lines and close proximity to the highway. Due to its size, the park never feels crowded. One of the hidden gems of a park on the north side.
