Nice place! There's alot to do at this park and something for everyone. Some highlights include the Gwen Moore Lake, 2 small waterfalls, Hummingbird Garden, Japanese Garden (not really a garden just a pond with small bridges and 1 waterfall), and Autumn's Peak. There is a $10 fee.

Awesome dog friendly park. Entrance with car $10 and depending on which way you enter you might not be able to find street parking. Park was bigger than I recalled. It seems I always find something new. Visited the MLK memorial at the top (amazing views), scenic city view path, Japanese garden (smaller than I expected and water fountain was out of service), visitor center, possibly saw the hummingbird garden but really it’s just several feeders hanging from the trees - still cute and able to see them. I love that one can choose paved or natural paths, and there were several bathrooms anytime needed.

Hidden Gem (at least for me) This park was an experience! Great short easy hiking paths Martin Luther king Jr monument/ lookout point Huge open field Amazing wall of trees surrounding the lake. Also variety of plants and wildlife

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE - GATHER HERE! Picnic? Hiking? Fishing? Birdwatching? Frisbee golf? This park is HUGE and has plenty of parking, picnic tables and pavilions. The views from atop the park is gorgeous! See the Pacific, Marina del Rey, Century City, and Baldwin Hills. A bike and hiking trail goes from the park all the way to the beach without dangerous freeway crossings. A great place to walk your dog.(pls pick up leavings) There are two tier water fountains but better to carry water for your dog or share yours. Some of the trails are steep. Most are dirt and are subject to erosion. If you want a paved path up to the top there is a broad concrete sidewalk that follows the road up. There are five or more restrooms which are cleaned regularly most are near the picnic areas and only one set at the top. If you and your child like hummingbirds there is a hummingbird garden up top near the parking lot but 50 yards down the trail going East. Some days 50+ hummers sipping sugar water from Feeders. A precious memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. faces downtown L.A. on the top of the park and near the picnic and playground. The memorial has quotations and text from one of the most important speeches in American history, “I HAVE A DREAM”. The Reverend King advocated non-violent protest and reform to achieve civil rights! We all “Have a DREAM” of PEACE. And this is one DREAM of a Park!

🤴🏿I wondered all the way to the Kenneth Hawn state recreational area after crossing the Mark-Ridley Thomas bridge by foot. I explored the area on foot by walking, jogging and hiking. I was excited to see a tall monument pointed to the sky and memorial dedicated to the late and one of greatest civil rights leaders of all time🤴🏿Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was a pleasant surprise because I didn’t know that it existed nor that it was created in LA. The monument is inscribed with a long narrative. The writing is small, so I could not capture a close up of the narrative with the entirety of the monument as a whole. There were also boulders what civil rights quotes written on them. I am assuming these may be direct quotes from Dr. King Jr. himself, but I can’t confirm. I also saw beautiful trees, ponds, trails, flowers, fish, frogs, plants, bridges, resting benches, and other people passing by, exploring the area as well. It was just a very serene, peaceful, and, beautiful environment. I explored the area for hours looking for as much beauty as I could capture with my eyes and camera. 🙋🏿‍♀️ 🇺🇸Love, Light, Peace, Blessings, Dreams, Community, Hope, Justice, Liberty, For All, Dreamers, Heart, Passion, Commitment, “Lift Every Voice Sing til earth and heaven ring”
