cool (literally shady most of the afternoon) exceptionally well-maintained city park - huge lawn, lots of dog walkers, and a great small-child playground (child required for adult access) with expansive views of Piers, Ferry building, and SF-East Bay Bay bridge behind. Public toilet at shady end near bus stop. Public parking lot across Washington St.

Great little park. Clean and safe. Have ample activity for kids to do. Free washroom nearby at pier that’s a plus.

Sue Bierman Park was never my favorite place to hang out, but I have to acknowledge my appreciation for it. It’s a large open space in the midst of the city with lots of grass and a few trees, perfect for picnicking and playing. There’s a playground for kids, and it’s close to transit and businesses, most notably the Ferry Building. Depending on where you are in the park, you can view the Embarcadero Center Buildings that tower directly above, the Ferry Building and the Bay Bridge, or even the Salesforce Tower and some other buildings on Market. Overall, 4/5.

Beautiful park in the middle of the city and close to many things. Perfect playground for my almost-two year old! She had an absolute blast. The location is wonderful as well -- inside a pretty park and very close to the Ferry Building. The reason I removed one star is one morning we went and an unhoused person had defecated on a napkin and it was sitting in the middle of the fenced-in kid's playground. SO completely disgusting.

After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake severely damaged the Embarcadero Freeway, discussions arose regarding its removal and the revitalization of the surrounding area. Sue Bierman, a prominent San Francisco activist and community leader, played a pivotal role in advocating for removing the freeway and creating a public park in its place. I should also mention Ernestine Weiss, a longtime resident of San Francisco and a dedicated community activist who played a significant role in creating Sue Bierman Park. Along with Sue Bierman, she was a vocal advocate for removing the Embarcadero Freeway and establishing a public park in its place. It took years of planning and community involvement before Sue Bierman Park Officially opened in 2003. The park's design features elements of sustainability and accessibility, featuring landscaped gardens, walking paths, recreational areas, and beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay and skyline. It is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. It provides a peaceful escape from the city's energy while honoring Sue Bierman's work in shaping San Francisco.
