Luke Thompson 3 weeks agoThe New Orleans Botanical Garden is an absolute masterpiece—a breathtaking 10-acre oasis nestled within City Park that left me utterly enchanted from the moment I stepped through its gates. This historic gem, originally shaped by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, showcases stunning Art Deco architecture, graceful sculptures by Enrique Alférez, and more than 2,000 varieties of plants from around the world. Every corner bursts with vibrant life and thoughtful design. Wandering the meticulously maintained pathways feels like stepping into a living painting. The Yakumo Nihon Teien Japanese Garden offers serene zen moments with its tranquil koi pond and elegant landscaping, while the Rose Garden dazzles with fragrant blooms in every hue. I was captivated by the Butterfly Walk, the lush tropical conservatory at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters, and the whimsical New Orleans Historic Train Garden, where miniature streetcars glide past tiny replicas of iconic city landmarks. The Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden seamlessly blends art with nature under the majestic live oaks, creating Instagram-worthy vistas at every turn. What truly sets this place apart is its peaceful atmosphere amid the city's energy. The gardens are impeccably kept, offering year-round color and inspiration for plant lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking solace. Whether strolling leisurely, picnicking under ancient oaks, or attending a special event, the experience is pure magic. It's a testament to New Orleans' beauty and resilience. If you're visiting the city, this hidden treasure is an absolute must—easily one of the most delightful, soul-nourishing spots I've ever encountered. Highly recommended.
K a month agoThe New Orleans Botanical Gardens is a must see for anyone visiting the city. It has so many beautiful little coves throughout the gardens to rest and relax. The greenhouse was our favorite place in the gardens, particularly the living fossil section which has a waterfall. There is also a vegetable garden section that in the summer has an abundance of vegetables growing and many flowering plants. We even saw a beautiful little garden kitty!
iAM EVE a month agoDon’t believe the hype about this botanical garden it’s not worth the price and it is not well kept flowers just dead everywhere. The train garden is only ran on the weekends as if people don’t go Monday thru Friday lol. The Japanese garden is temporary closed big disappointment . This place has such potential to be the most beautiful botanical garden if they actually clean and maintained it. DON’T BELIEVE THESE TOUR GUIDE COMMENTS THEY LYING THIS PLACE NEEDS HELP!
Adi Gherman 2 months agoWindy day in NOLA so we decided to spend the morning in the botanical garden. Took the tram from Canal (close to the Casino) so it took about 35 min to get to the gardens. The trip was worth it. Gardens are gorgeous, they have a vegetable garden that was well taken care of. There is a toy train area, trains only run on weekends, very impressive. The indoor gardens had plenty of orchids and a couple of very interesting large fish (one had teeth like humans, other one looked like an alligator). Japanese garden was closed for maintenance, it did look like something that was worth seeing though. Definitely worth the trip and 1-3 hours of your time.
Chelsea 2 months agoThis is a gorgeous, lush and whimsical botanical garden! The Spanish moss hanging off the trees as well as the wavy-shaped bushes were my favorite. The sculptures throughout were beautiful and a nice addition to the already beautiful gardens. Definitely worth the visit!
