This is a beautiful park located right in front of the WWI museum. The World Cup watch party was being held here and we had to walk through this park and all of the festivities on the way to the museum entrance. It was hot out today but it looked like a fun party atmosphere!

The beautiful WW1 memorial is a must see in Kansas City as well as the museum below. I highly recommend taking your time to watch the different videos and emersive experiences in the museum. They have a plethora of artifacts, anecdotal stories, and maps of the history. I felt the history was slightly biased, framing Germany as nationalist in WW1, acting as the catalyst slightly for colonial gain which is blatantly incorrect, but I understand given the loans the US gave to France & Britain that they needed to recoup the US could only frame them as the righteous side to help win. Below is a more stark example I noticed. Given my background in data visualizations I noted the clear framing choices that the data visualist made to create the visual attached below. By making the allies red they highlight themselves, but the central powers are a blackish blue and the neutral powers are a blackish grey this makes it seem as if the neutral powers who were not involved in the war were on the side of the Germans making their threat seem disproportionately larger to the US than it was in WW1. What I found most interesting was the propaganda posters during the war that the US made they are awesome pieces of history.

Why just to catch some shade& to watch skaters at the skate park. Meanwhile, took my hound for a walk & took in the view of the city. Checked out The Scout ( a statue of a native american on a horse). Was a beautiful day. Had a great breeze up there and what I saw of the park was well kept. ( A new walking trail had just been laid).

I am a veteran of the 7th ID and several other patches. It was awesome to see uniforms, weapons, and gear that the WW1 soldiers used. The museum was very organized and interesting. I was in the area on a business trip and wished I had more time to spend at the museum and tower. I spent about two hours at the museum and a half hour at the tower. I would go back to view more videos and read more about the exhibits.
