John Eckelbarger 11 months agoTried and true staple for the South Arlington community — been coming here since I was a kid. Red Kane park is one of the better parks off Cooper. It has a little bit of everything: (i) basketball courts, (ii) baseball field, (iii) paved walking paths, (iv) unpaved hiking trails, (v) playground for kids, and (vi) a pond with ducks. Frequented a lot by the surrounding neighborhood, which is a good demographic. This week, I took my dog Moose for a walk here and ended up spending all afternoon re-exploring the park. Played a quick game of 1-on-1 with a nice guy at the bball court then walked around the trails. Even ventured to the O.W. Fannin Natural Area since the trail connects — so plenty to do. Park entrance sneaks up on you, but once you enter there’s plenty of parking. And best part.. there’s a public restroom! We need more parks with that amenity frankly. That said, there’s plenty of picnic table areas with grills so bring the fam if you want to get out of the house. Saw plenty of people out but still wasn’t crowded — had a lively but open feel during the afternoon. There’s a fringe of algae on the pond, but the water installation ensures the water flows so think that’ll clear up. But saw two ducks swimming around so you know it’s clean water. Playground is a little faded but that’s bc this park has been around for a while. And that didn’t stop the kids from having fun. Tip: Bring your bike or walk the paved trails, which provide plenty of shade. You can explore this park and plenty of others due to the connected paved trail. Or spend your time exploring deeper off the unpaved trails hidden throughout. Overall, giving Red Kane 5 big booms 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻! Long-standing park for the residents of Arlington. And just know it’ll be here for many more years to come, which is a good thing.
Apollo Harden 4 months agoSuper flowy trail for mountain biking, and good respect between hikers and riders while navigating the twisting maze in the trees. Great place to explore with family and friends.
Brent Campbell 3 months agoGreat park. My grandson loved this place. Plenty of room for a huge variety of activities. Several people fishing in the pond. Several sports team practicing in the open field.
Rick Snyder a year agoThere are peacocks everywhere if you walk the trail, they are such beautiful birds I have pics but it's not letting me add them
Mochalady 8 months agoNice park. Very clean with a walk trail & water feature
