My daughter and I visited to take her 2025 graduation 🎓🎊 pictures!! It was a nice sunny day. Pretty quiet area close to UH University Downtown. Scenery was nice with different areas. We walked down the stairs to an open area near the water then we followed the path upward to another area with stairs. Unfortunately, at the top of those stairs it leads back to the street. This part had a circular section you can look down at the other areas but we encountered a homeless man sleeping and the stairs smelled of urine. We walked up another little area saw more water. We also saw some young men fishing in this water but they hadn't caught anything. We decided to cross over to the other side to take more pictures on a different staircase. We took plenty of pictures and had a sweet outing. Lastly, there were ducks!! I wished we had brought them snacks. P.S. There was a security guard riding through the area in a golf cart.

Very good place to talk walk or bike ride and to escape from the craziness of downtown Houston.

This week at Allens Landing is Snow Glow. A four story high water spray that acts like a screen for projected images. Starts at 7pm and ends around 10pm. Projections lastes 15 minutes and then start over. Free to the public. First time in Houston.

I took the 90 minute bridge to bridge bayou tour. Great information and scenery you get your money's worth. Crew was nice waited 15 minutes for our group of elderly and injured people to get there.

Given the significance of this place, I was expecting a monument or a plaque commemorating the historical landing. Hence I was surprised to see how simple the park is. The only things I saw in the park was an old signboard about a paddling trail, and a stone wall with inscriptions of the words “The Town of Houston” and selected extracts of a document written by A.C. Allen. If I didn't read up about the history in my guide book and checked the location of the park in Google Maps, I would have missed the park completely. It would be nice if the authorities put up an information panel in the park to explain the history, and put up maps and directional arrows outside the park to guide visitors to the park.
