Aibek Kh a month agoNice place to visit! There are plenty of interesting museums, great walking areas, relaxing spots, and the architecture is definitely beautiful. It’s a wonderful place to spend time with family and enjoy the many amenities available. Parking was fairly easy to navigate, and the map directions were clear and helpful. Overall, a great destination for a day out or a weekend visit.
Life Of A Nomad 2 months ago🌴 Balboa Park San Diego. Must Visit Landmarks, Gardens & Museums (Plan Ahead!) When we visited San Diego, Balboa Park was a must-stop and it absolutely delivered. We came mainly to see the iconic California Tower, but quickly realized this place is HUGE. Even a full day is not enough to cover everything the park has to offer. We arrived around midday and parked in one of the on-site parking lots (about $10). From there, we walked through the open green lawns into the heart of the park. Entry to Balboa Park itself is free, but most museums require tickets (around $16 per person, from what I remember). The park is incredibly well maintained, clean, and easy to navigate, with plenty of signage, maps, restrooms and food options including cafes, restaurants, and snack stands. It’s very visitor-friendly. During our visit, we explored several highlights: • California Tower (beautiful historic architecture) • Japanese Friendship Garden (peaceful and well designed) • The massive Fig Tree with its impressive root system • Desert Garden • Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden What stands out most is the variety architecture, gardens, museums, open spaces everything in one place. It’s perfect for walking, relaxing, and exploring at your own pace. Tip: Arrive early, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water especially on warm days. Plan your route in advance if you want to cover specific spots, because distances add up quickly. Overall, highly recommended for anyone visiting San Diego. This is not just a park it’s an experience.
Mrs. S a month agoIf you're looking for a great place to walk around, explore, have a picnic, read a book, have a nice coffee and pastry, explore different types of museums, see different architectural buildings, take photos, so many photos opportunities! Absolutely beautiful! You can walk for hours! Such a wonderful place. If you're from out of town, coming to San Diego for the first time, its a must see for people of all ages!
Mike Mann a month agoWe spent two full days at Balboa Park and could've easily spent three. The place is massive — there's seriously something for everyone here. Beautiful Spanish architecture lines the walkways, the gardens are well-kept, and you'll stumble across street performers, food spots, and gorgeous photo ops at almost every turn. The museum lineup is impressive too: natural history, art, photography, model railroads, air and space — you name it. Even if museums aren't your thing, just wandering the grounds, sitting by the lily pond, or catching an organ performance at the Spreckels Pavilion is worth the trip. Parking is no longer free so keep that in mind. It can get busy on weekends so plan accordingly and try to get there at 9 so you can get some good parking. The Japanese Friendship Garden is a must if you have time, and the botanical building is worth a peek. Bring comfortable shoes — you'll be on your feet a lot — and don't try to cram everything into one visit. Easily one of the best things to do in San Diego, and you really can't beat the value.
Juliana Kilmurray a month agoBalboa Park was one of our favorite stops in San Diego! The architecture is absolutely stunning, and we loved walking through the beautiful gardens and historic buildings. There was so much to see and explore, and our toddler had an amazing time running around and taking it all in. It’s a perfect place for families and anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery and architecture.
