Jagadish Shivanna 2 weeks agoOne of our favorite spots with amazing views in San Diego. Every sunset here feels different, and the views over the cliffs and ocean are incredible. We visited just before sunset and stayed to watch the sky change colors. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Paul Cuthbert 3 weeks agoWhen the tide is out you can make your way down a steep narrow staircase to the beach. Here you will find small tide pools. For the adventurous people out there take a walk across the rocks to the caves to view the ocean from a new perspective. Just be careful the rocks can be slippery and hurt of you happen to fall. Otherwise the views from the cliffs or the beach are worth the short hike from the free parking lots. Regardless of where you park, you will have great views of the Pacific and watch the surfers catching a break.
Nicholas P a month agoI was pleased to find that the parking here is free. We parked in the parking lot but it can get filled up. I have seen people park along the street. Apparently, some of the locals have never heard of Rum Runner’s Cave (Smuggler’s Cave) or Rum Runner Cove. I found it on Google search but didn’t see it. They have stairs that take you down to the tides. There were low tides when we went and I saw people walking along the rocks. If you do so, make sure you have some water shoes. You can go barefoot but be careful with your footing. This is a great place to take nice photos.
KC4 T 2 months agoFollow Sunset Cliff Boulevard to see all the major attractions along the way. Start at the intersection of Adair Street and head south. You could hike or drive. There will be plenty of parking if you choose to go on a weekday instead of a weekend. However, I did not encounter any rest room along the way. There are neither enough secluded areas for you to relieve yourself discreetly. So prepare yourself for that. The landscape along the shore is breathtaking - must see. However, there are no fences around the area. It could pose a danger to those who have mobility problems. If you lose your balance there will be a chance that you will fall in the water. I don’t recommend this place for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Amit Kucheriya 2 months agoAwesome place to spend evening watching sunset. Few things to remember - come early to find street parking, bring your coffee or cold drink (no alcohol allowed), check weather as it can get a bit windy and chilly, south side has stairs to walk down to water, great spot for photos, and be courteous to people around you.
