The park is clean and well-maintained but I'm giving only 4-star rating because the trails are not named in every intersection. There are some that designated with trail names but mostly not. For me, that's important. Anyway, I still enjoyed my hike and exploring. I just don't wanna be lost. I still recommend it because the place is beautiful and it's family-oriented. Lots of places to picnic and places for kids to play.

Visited Alum Rock Park and had a great experience. The visitor center is a nice starting point—clean, informative, and helpful for getting oriented before heading out on the trails. Parking is convenient and well-organized, with spots available near key areas, though it can fill up on busy days. Overall, a well-maintained park that’s easy to access and perfect for a relaxing outdoor visit. 🌿

My favorite local park especially during weekdays. I've been coming here for at least 30 years. If you come here on a weekend you better come early. Great views if you do the entire loop. Great for running as well. In summer the grass can get long in the less traveled trails and I have seem plenty of ticks out there. Lots of wildlife including birds and deer. You can see plenty of mushrooms popping out if you plan it right. The park is almost miserable in the summer though so pack plenty of water if you go during those times. My favorite is when it is raining since the park is almost empty and the creek is flowing well.

Best park in town. Offers something to everyone at every age and at every physical ability. History, geology, hydrology, biology, ecology, and cardio from the miles of trails, both shaded and totally exposed! Playground for kids, trails for bikers and bikers alike. Full view of the South Bay and San Jose downtown. Free WiFi near ranger station/visitor center.
