I can’t begin to say enough good things about Dix Park. I’ve never been to a nicer park. Thomas Dambo is my favorite modern artist, and his trolls were the reason for our visit, but imagine our surprise when we found so much more. Incredible history, art installations, GORGEOUS old buildings, the most incredible playground for children (and those of us young at heart enjoy the suspension bridge as well), a splash pad, community garden, gorgeous flowers, and even the bathroom was an experience. They made it from reclaimed materials from the property and it was insanely beautiful outside of being functional. 308 acres to explore, and I’m convinced we explored every single inch. This park is a hidden gem, and well worth our nearly five hour drive. The crazy part? The staff said we haven’t seen anything yet. They’re completely renovating the park and there are big plans for the future. We will certainly be back, the word “love” isn’t strong enough to describe our enthusiasm for this beautiful place. It’s a must see.

The park is enormous! The Troll's were super cool and great for pictures. Definitely a good place for kids to play or even for picnics, field games, bike riding. Plan a full day there. Downside? We went when it was too hot, we plan to go back in cooler weather.

Very clean and spacious. You can find room for a large group, as well as places for a little solitude. Great views of downtown or natural areas. Not to mention the trolls!!! ❤️Located so close to the NC farmers market. It’s definitely worth a trip.

I love how this park us to be a mental hospital and the city re-used the space to make it in to a park. It is beautiful. It was a great idea to put the Trolls in different area of the park. Is like a scavenger hunt. If they were all in the same place you would miss how beautiful the rest of the park is.

Beautiful day to participate in Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow. They had food trucks and vendors which you could purchase items. Gibson Play Plaza located nearby which was great for families to enjoy the Picnic area. They even had grills and restrooms near. Definitely a place for all ages to enjoy.
