Lake Johnson Park is one of my favorite places to go kayaking in the Raleigh area. The lake is calm, peaceful, and perfect for beginners or anyone looking to relax on the water. The scenery is beautiful, with plenty of trees surrounding the lake and lots of opportunities to spot wildlife along the shoreline. The kayak rental process is convenient, and the lake is large enough to explore without feeling crowded. I especially enjoy paddling during the early morning or around sunset when the views are stunning and the water is extra calm. After kayaking, it’s nice to walk the trails around the lake and enjoy the natural surroundings. Whether you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity, exercise, or just a peaceful escape from the city, Lake Johnson Park is a great spot to spend a few hours. Highly recommend!

Parking can be a challenge, and the bathrooms aren't fancy, but the lake and trails are beautiful. I ran around the lake and then kayaked it. There is not an easy way to get close to the boat ramp, I had to haul my kayak from the back of the parking lot, a spot I only got after circling 3 times at 8am on a Sunday. There was a huge line of cars wanting spots when I left.

First time here. Nice, FREE park. Some parking, rocking chairs, and bathrooms. A walking trail surrounds the area, and a bridge over the water where people fish. Nice views. Quite a few people but didn't feel crowded. They have a dock and it looks like they rent kayaks at sone point. Will come back later in the year

Highly recommended. Has picnic areas and rentable room for events. Also has easy to moderate paved route suitable for walking, running, dog walking, cycling, or whatever else. The lake is beautiful and colors are amazing in the fall season. There is also possibility for fishing and kayaking. Parking is hard but there is another parking lot past the bridge. Pictures don’t do it justice!

Great walking trail, it's pavement so wear some Crocs. A walk around the whole lake is approximately 2.6 miles. Back half is very hilly. Get there early the parking is limited.
