We visited the beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose on Mother’s Day, and it was such a peaceful little escape from busy city life. I loved walking through the serene pathways, bridges, and lush greenery while enjoying the sight of the koi ponds and watching the fish swim around. It’s such a lovely spot to slow down, relax, take photos, or simply enjoy nature for a while. Some areas have been recently restored, and the garden has a quiet charm that makes it worth visiting. You can truly feel the peaceful atmosphere inspired by traditional Japanese gardens. Perfect for a peaceful stroll, reflection time, or a simple afternoon with family and friends. It’s free to enter the park, just pay for parking. Definitely one of San Jose’s hidden gems. 🌿🌸

The park is lovely for a walk and relax. However, the pond near the red bridge and a huge turtle stoned was dry and seemed a bit neglected. Once you get to the koi pond, though, you can really see the beauty of the place - the koi are huge and the color are beautiful. There's also a Japanese-style house, which was closed during our visit, but the surrounding park area offers plenty of space with BBQ pits and seating, perfect for gathering or a quiet afternoon outdoors. Dogs are not allowed.

It’s a great park for a quick stroll or meditation place! There aren’t as many Koi fishes, anymore though.

Some of the water in lakes is already dried out and only a small portion still has water. It's a small loop and only takes around 20 min to walk. There are very few people around and the park is pretty quiet. Good for a relaxing walk after visiting the zoo nearby!

I really liked even though is pretty much closed during the winter. Ponds are dry except for the one on top of the hill what is deeper. All koy are sort of stuffed there and water was very durty. Park your vehicle at Kelly Park parkway.
